Below is the press release Samsung made in January regarding it’s new technology. There should be quite a few good deals on this TV this month. I’ll make a series of post as soon as they become available. SAMSUNG Electronics today announced that it continues to lead the industry with the launch of the widest range of options for 3D home entertainment in the marketplace with a comprehensive line up of 3D-ready LED, LCD and Plasma televisions as well as 3D Blu-ray players and home theater systems. SAMSUNG was the first to introduce 3D into the home in 2007 with a DLP offering, and the following year brought this technology to the UK with the launch of the world’s first 3D flat-panel plasma. Following a string of successful 3D cinema releases, SAMSUNG has spent the past two years investing in core 3D image processing technology to provide home customers with the multi platform 3D solutions unveiled today which offer the industry’s best image quality. Debuting at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, SAMSUNG’s 3D-ready TV offering includes the award-winning LED TV 9000 Series, as well as the LED TV 8000 and 7000 series, meaning consumers have a wide choice of models to fit their individual entertainment preferences and lifestyle. For customers wanting to purchase an LCD model, the new 750 Series will also support 3D technology, making images leap off the screen so you feel like you’re a part of the action, whilst the latest in SAMSUNG’s premium plasma TV line the 7000 Series - also includes SAMSUNG’s proprietary built-in 3D processor to add a new dimension to TV viewing at home for Plasma fans. Entertainment enthusiasts can also enjoy 3D content on their Blu-ray player for the first time with the launch of the BD-C6900 as well as a 3D Blu-ray home theatre system. SAMSUNG’s proprietary built-in 3D processor and emitter is optimised for, and compatible with multiple 3D standards including half and full HD resolution formats as well as the Blu-ray Disc Association ratified “Blu-ray 3D” standard. In addition, SAMSUNG’s 3D system delivers a picture using a full color spectrum for a believable, immersive viewing experience. Rob Shaw, General Manager CTV & Home Platforms, SAMSUNG UK & Ireland says: “3D TV is a key focus for SAMSUNG and we are committed to the continued delivery of this technology to homes in the UK. In 2010 we are delighted to be able to offer the industry’s broadest portfolio of 3D ready TV screen technologies, including LED, LCD & PDP. Our televisions offer incredible picture quality and choice, and coupled with the forthcoming Sky 3D TV service, SAMSUNG customers can look forward to a truly immersive viewing experience.” At this week’s CES show, BSkyB (Sky) has confirmed that its forthcoming Sky 3D TV service, which is to launch later this year, will be compatible with a wide range of the first 3D Ready TVs to be available in the UK and Ireland, including SAMSUNG’s latest lineup. The service will offer a broad selection of the best available 3D programming, expected to include movies, arts, entertainment and sport. The service will be broadcast across Sky’s existing HD infrastructure. SAMSUNG will be showing Sky 3D content at CES and discussions between the companies are ongoing for the development of this format. Brian Lenz, Sky’s Director of Product Design & TV Product Development, comments: “Our HD customers already have a 3D capable set-top box, so if they are interested in experiencing TV in a third dimension, the good news is that they’ll have a range of 3D Ready TVs to choose from. This is a great example of Sky and manufacturers like SAMSUNG taking the initiative to ensure there is no confusion over formats. By working together with set manufactures, we want to provide a hassle free way for consumers enjoy 3D TV.” Read More →
Samsung HD LED/LCD TV’s have two features that set it apart from other TV’s. 1) LED Motion Plus LED Motion Plus™ Technology elimates the blurs that are often found on convential or other LCD TV’s.
